Ryzom is not Free to Play, this confuses many new players who find out you actually have to sub. Others associate micro payment and cash shops with Free to Play. Ryzom is a Pay to Play game, with a liberal Free Trial. That's it.

But you can play it for free, and players do need to know that, so given that the average internet wanderer has an attention span of 3 words, how else would you say it? :p

Agree 100%. In a sense, you are advertising this game falsely. It is NOT F2P. You need to make this clear on your website.

Well according to Wikipedia, "Free-to-play (F2P) refers to any video game that has the option of allowing its players to play without paying." Ryzom is free to play in the sense that you can play as much as you want without having to subscribe.

So while the phrase "free to play" is potentially confusing, it is an accurate description and probably less confusing at first glance than some alternatives.

So am i secretly getting charged through apple or something for dowloading it through the app store?

Hi Idrinkwine,

You will not be charged; You can play Ryzom for free without having to pay anything for as long as you like.

which is quite different from most "free to play" games where you need to spend exorbitant amounts of money in an item mall to get anywhere :)

I wonder how many people would take original concept drawings instead of a GTX 480 / a lifetime subscription. I'd surely rather take a piece of art than a piece of hardware which's gonna be totally valueless in less than three years... regardless of the fact I'm in a dire need of a graphic card at the moment.

However, the second prize is a distinctively harder choice to make. I suppose it all depends on how long is Ryzom gonna be around. *wink*

Totally valueless in less than three years? But by that logic you'd never buy a new graphics card! It's about the fun you have with it in those 3 years!
